Travel info
The IGCA 2022 Congress takes place at Amsterdam which is easily accessible by bike, plane, train and car.
The hotel address: Joan Muyskenweg 10, 1096 CJ Amsterdam.By plane: Schiphol Airport
In 2019, 106 carriers provided a total of 301 destinations on a regular basis to Schiphol Airport so there's always an airport nearby you can choose to fly to Schiphol. The Mercure Amsterdam City Hotel is only 15 minutes from the airport and we recommend taking a taxi to travel from the airport to the hotel. Warning: only use Uber or official taxis at the airport. The charge should be around €20 in total. If you use a non-official taxi, this can be up to €100 or more!
Alternatively, you can use public transport. You can plan your journey via www.9292ov.nl.
As with most airports these days, Schiphol can be busy and crowded. There's not a lot we can do about it but be sure to take your time while travelling. Especially if you travel back home from Schiphol, it's best to be there 4 hours before departure. Go to www.schiphol.nl for more information.
By train: Amsterdam Centraal Train Station
Amsterdam Centraal Station has direct train links with multiple cities in Belgium, France and Germany via ICE and Thalys. Once arrived at Amsterdam Centraal, you can take the metro to the "Overamstel" metro station which is only a 6-minute walk from the hotel.
Please note Amsterdam is, in general, a safe city but be aware of pickpockets at the train station and while on the metro.
You can plan your journey via www.9292ov.nl.
By metro/underground
We don't have a lot of metros in Amsterdam, but luckily, there's a station next to the hotel. The station you need is "Amsterdam Overamstel". There's a direct line from Overamstel to multiple interesting stops in the city centre, including Amsterdam Centraal. The "Nieuwmarkt" station is the one if you fancy a walk in the historical centre of Amsterdam.
Waterlooplein is the station close to the famous Waterloo market and the Rembrandtplein with its' bars & clubs.
By Car: motorway A2
You can travel to the hotel by car but parking space is limited and can be expensive. The hotel is easily accessible via the A2/E35 motorway. You just follow this road to Amsterdam and the hotel is literally at the end of the road.
By bike
Ambitious delegates join the congress by bike. You can drop your bike near the hotel entrance (or anywhere else, like Dutch people tend to do!).
